One of 23 quilts coming together for a show that tells the story of forged connection between a father and his adopted daughter (me). This quilt is a tribute to my father and the unwavering love he has shown me as we've navigated through some exceptional dark and difficult times. Using textiles like silk ties, hospital scrubs, and cotton representing his Sunday vestments, each piece represents the role my father played in both his professional life and as a steadfast presence in our family. The quilt blocks are shaped to resemble palm fronds, much like those laid before Jesus on Palm Sunday, a symbol of the enduring love and grace my father extended to me during my rebellious teen years. Through this quilt, I honor not only his faith in God but also the faith he had in me, a belief that helped shape the person I've become, despite my deep struggles with faith. This is one of many blocks that interlock in this work-in-progress to be completed in winter 2024-25.
