This quilt, part of my upcoming exhibit, is a tribute to the connections I've formed with immigrants and refugees - people who have shaped my creative journey in profound ways. Made from fabric remnants gifted by a master tailor in San Diego, originally from Milan, this quilt is more than just scraps; it tells a story of community, craftsmanship, and shared experiences. As an adoptee, I understand the feeling of displacement and the search for belonging, much like the journey of those seeking new beginnings. This piece reflects how our lives, no matter how brief or deep the encounters, are interwoven into the fabric of our identities.
